Potensi Gel Perasan Pulpa Kakao (Theobroma Cacao L.) sebagai Alternatif Bahan Dentine Conditioner terhadap Pembersihan Smear Layer pada Kavitas Klas II

Abstract

Preparation has result smear layer that will interfere adaptation between the cavity wall and restorative material. Dentin conditioner is given to clean the smear layer by utilizing the active compounds (saponins and citric acid). This gel has good absorption, adhesion, durability, and odorless. This study aims to know potential of cocoa pulp gel as an alternative dentin conditioner for cleaning smear layer in class II cavity. This experimental used polyacrylic acid 10% and cocoa pulp gel with sample (teeth) had been prepared class II. Sample of the pulpal wall were observed using SEM with a magnification of 2000x and 5000x, the results of SEM photography were calculated for scorring Hulsmann. Data analysis used the Mann-Whitney U Test. Polyacrylic acid treatment result the dentin tubules were partially open and the surface of the cavity showed a slight smear layer. The treatment of gel cocoa pulp showed that some of the dentin tubules were closed and some of the smear layer on the surface of the cavity wall. The Mann Whitney U Test p>0.05 means there is no significant difference. Cocoa pulp gel has no significant difference with 10% polyacrylic acid,but is not better than polyacrylic acid 10% in its ability to clean the smear layer. Gel pulp cocoa has potential to clean the smear layer on the surface of the cavity wall.
