Ageing is a complex biological process involving systemic changes in body structure and function, including serum Trk-B for improved cognitive function. Declining cognitive function during ageing is often caused by reduced vitamin D production due to UV-B exposure. A combination of physical activity under UV-B exposure (ORUV) and a fish oil diet is expected to improve cognitive function. This study aims to evaluate the effect of physical exercise under UV-B exposure and consumption of lemuru fish oil diet on increasing Trk-B levels in cognitive function. This study was conducted experimentally in an animal laboratory using male Wistar rats weighing between 250-350 grams and aged 3-4 months. Observations were made on days 0, 14, and 28. The rats were divided into three groups (n=4): the control group (K0, K14, K28), the physical exercise group with UV-B exposure (ORUV), and the group given fish oil supplementation (OM) 1.5 ml/day. The results were tested for differences using ANOVA with SPSS ver 26. Statistical tests showed significant differences (p < 0.05) between groups. However, significant differences were found between K0 and ORUV14, K14 and K28, OM14 and OM28, and between OM14 and ORUV28. The combination of physical exercise with UV-B exposure and fish oil diet significantly increased TrkB levels. The combination of exercise with UV-B exposure and fish oil diet (OM) has been proven to complement each other in increasing serum Trk-B levels, so that the combination of the two can activate the BDNF/Trk-B pathway to support neuroplasticity, which has the potential to prevent cognitive and oromaxillofacial function decline, so that it can be considered as a strategy to maintain brain health and oromaxillofacial function in the elderly.
