Oral hygiene is crucial to oral health, especially in the elderly. Elderly people in Indonesia reaches more than 10% of total population. Increasing elderly is also a challenge to maintain their oral health. Elderly people experience decrease in their ability to maintan oral hygiene care, this condition can be influence by attitude which can deteriorate their oral health conditions. To increase the awareness of oral care behavior among the elderly, oral care attitude plays a critical role in daily dental practices. Oral care attitude in elderly's perspective is needed to assess or behave in maintaining oral hygiene to avoid disease. The aim of this study is to investigate the correlation between oral care attitude with oral hygiene status in elderly chronic disease management program (Prolanis) clinic pratama PKU Muhammadiyah Srandakan Bantul Yogyakarta. This is an observational analyitic with a cross sectional study. Clinical examinations were performed on 55 elderly to assess the Simplified Oral Hygiene Index (OHI-S). Face-to-face interviews were applied to attitude for oral care through a questionnaire, which consisted of questions regarding demographic characteristics and oral care attitude. Data were analyzed using a gamma correlation test. Most of the oral care attitude in moderate category (49.1%), %) and the OHI-S moderate category (41.8%). The statistical test results showed that p-value = 0.000 (<α: 0.05) was statistically significant. There is a significant correlation between oral care attitude with oral hygiene status of the elderly Prolanis clinic pratama PKU Muhammadiyah Srandakan Bantul Yogyakarta.
